Our Pre-K Program

Our Pre-K program at Hive Academy is designed to provide a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment for children aged 4-5 years old. This program builds on the foundational skills developed in our toddler program, with a focus on preparing children for a successful transition to kindergarten and beyond.

Curriculum

Our Pre-K Program uses Frog Street Pre-K for our curriculum. Frog Street Pre-K is a comprehensive program that is designed to meet the needs of diverse learners all while supporting all ten learning domains. Key curriculum features and benefits:

  • Hands-On exploration
  • Research-based scope and sequence for all literacy, math, and content domains
  • Integration of Conscious Discipline by Dr. Becky Bailey: Frog Street Pre-K includes a comprehensive classroom management and social-emotional component that creates a learning environment where children feel safe and loved. Children learn to reduce stress, engage appropriately with their classmates, and practice social skills, such as using kind words and helpful hands.

Learning Environment

Our Pre-K classrooms are designed to be engaging and interactive, with:

  • Learning centers tied to the Texas Pre-K Learning Domains: Social-Emotional Development, Language and Communication, Emergent Literacy (Reading), Emergent Literacy (Writing), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Physical Development, and Technology
  • Opportunities for dramatic play and role-playing, self-help skills, and conflict resolution
  • Outdoor play areas for gross motor development and nature exploration

Our Approach

At Hive Academy, we believe that every child is a unique learner with their own strengths and interests. Our Pre-K teachers use a child-centered approach, incorporating project-based learning and STEAM activities to promote critical thinking and creativity.
